Michele Ulivi
Biography
Dr. Michele Ulivi has been the Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Istituti Clinici Zucchi in Monza.
In 1981 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, where in 1986 he specialized in orthopaedics and traumatology. He acquired extensive knowledge while studying abroad. He attended the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Florida (USA) and the University of Helsinki (Finland), the Hip Implant Department of the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he perfected the application of minimally invasive techniques and computer-assisted hip and knee replacement surgery from 2003 to 2013. In 1994, he received his PhD in Biomechanics and Biomaterials in Orthopaedics from the University of Aix-Marseille in Marseille, France.
He was a Professor at the Faculty of Bioengineering of the Polytechnic University of Milan from 1996-1997, and a Professor at the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Bicocca University of Milan from 2000 to 2012.
Dr. Michele Ulivi has performed more than 5,000 hip and knee replacement surgeries as primary surgeon, perfecting minimally invasive and computer-assisted surgery techniques.
He is the author of more than 50 scientific articles, published in Knee Surgery Sports Traumatology Arthroscopy and Journal of Arthroplasty.
He has been a speaker at national and international congresses and the member of the expert groups such as the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (SIOT) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgery (AAHKS). In 2009 he was awarded an Honorary Fellow of the Department of Adult Reconstructive Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School).
