Nicola Logoluso
Biography
Dr. Nicola Logoluso is an orthopedic surgeon and researcher in the Department of Operative Reconstructive Surgery and Bone and Joint Infections (C.R.I.O.) of the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi – Sant’Ambrogio. He also collaborates with Palazzo della Salute Wellness Clinic.
In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, where five years later he received a diploma of higher education in orthopedics and traumatology with maximum marks and honors.
At the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi – Sant’Ambrogio, where he has been working since 2008 as an attending physician, he hones his experience in the diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint infections, as well as degenerative diseases of the hip and knee joints.
In 2012, he completed an internship at University College Hospital London in the department headed by Prof. Haddad.
A member of the National Society of Orthopedics (SIOT) and the Italian Group for the Study and Treatment of Bone and Joint Infections (GISTIO). He is the author and co-author of 25 publications with more than 500 references, as well as a participant as an invited speaker at numerous national and international congresses.
In 2014, he conducted a study "Gait Analysis of Patients with Revision Knee Prostheses", published in the journal ESSKA.
In 2013, he was an Italian delegate to the Philadelphia Consensus on Periprosthetic Infections.
His areas of interest, which he works on daily in the field of orthopedics and injuries:
- surgery of bone and joint infections (infected prostheses, osteomyelitis and infectious osteoarthritis);
- hip and knee joint prosthetics during primary implantation and revision (failure of the articular prosthesis or its mobility, painful sensations);
- arthroscopic knee surgery.
In 2018, as the first surgeon, he performed the first operation in Europe to revise a hypoallergenic knee prosthesis with a cementless implant made using 3D printing.
Currently, he is responsible for the ongoing research project "Clinical Management and Surgical Treatment of Patients with Osteoarticular and Periprosthetic Infection", in which patients who are registered in the department can use the most innovative available surgical methods and orthopedic technologies (for example, the use of antibiotic-coated bone substitutes and implants with antibacterial coating).
