Paolo Denti
Biography
Paolo Denti is responsible for the Functional Department of Transcatheter Therapy of Structural Heart Diseases in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan under the supervision of Professor Alessandro Castiglioni.
After graduating in Medicine and Surgery in 2004 with top marks from the University of Vita-Salute San Raffaele, he completed his specialization in cardiac surgery in 2008 at the same university.
He is mainly engaged in the treatment of diseases of the aortic, mitral and tricuspid heart valves (insufficiency and stenosis) and coronary surgery. In addition to the traditional surgical solution, he deals with methods of restoring the mitral valve by mini-thoracotomy by replacing damaged tendons and ligaments (Harpoon, Neochord). In particular, he is engaged in technologies that exclude surgical trauma, suitable for different subgroups of patients, such as percutaneous prosthetics of the aortic valve for aortic stenosis in its various forms (transfemoral and transapical TAVI, valves of the aortic, mitral and tricuspid valves, elimination of paravalvular leak), percutaneous plasty of the mitral and tricuspid valve (for example, Mitraclip, Cardioband, Pascal). Dr. Denti is also an expert in the field of imaging (echocardiography and CT of the heart), which are necessary for the use of new technologies. In recent years, he has devoted himself to the new field of mitral and tricuspid valve replacement by a completely percutaneous route (Tendyne, Tiara, Cardiovalve, and Navigate).
Author and co-author of 100 publications in industry scientific journals and book chapters. His Hirsch Index is 24. Constantly takes part in national and international industry congresses. He conducts educational events (proctorship) around the world to help colleagues correctly use devices for percutaneous treatment of valvulopathies.
He holds several patents for devices for the percutaneous treatment of heart valve diseases. Denti is also a member of the European Cardiothoracic Society (EACTS), the European Society of Cardiology, the Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology (GISE) and the European Society (EACVI).
