Simona Nascimbene
Biography
Dr. Simona Nascimbene is currently the Head of the Functional Department of Post-Intensive Therapy of the Department of Cardiac Surgery under the supervision of Professor Alessandro Castiglioni at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan.
In 1995, she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan; five years later she specialized in thoracic surgery at the same university. She was a lecturer in nursing and an Associate Professor at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University.
During her career, she has participated in more than 5,000 cardiac surgeries in adults, coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacement or repair, surgical treatment of isolated atrial fibrillation or related to other heart diseases, planned and emergency aortic surgeries.
Since 2014, she has been in charge of the post-intensive department of the cardiac surgery department, where she has gained extensive experience in solving problems of postoperative hospitalization.
Dr. Nascimbene also conducts clinical and scientific research, focusing on the surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation and postoperative management of patients after cardiac surgery. She is the author/co-author of more than 30 articles published in national and international journals such as European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Journal of Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Journal of Heart Valve Disease, Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, Perfusion, Italian Heart Journal.
