Umberto Capitanio
Biography
Dr. Umberto Capitanio is the Chief Assistant of the Department of Urology at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Francesco Montorsi.
Since 2020, he has been Functional Unit Manager for Operative Endoscopy Services and Team Leader for Kidney Cancer Research at the Ospedale San Raffaele.
In 2020, he received the Matula Award, designed for urologists with the best scientific profile at the national level.
He is an Associate Professor at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and has worked at the Center hospitalier de l'Université di Montréal.
Dr. Capitanio is an Executive Member of the European Guidelines Group (RCC Section), Executive Member of the European Association Video Commission (UAE) and Director of the European Education Platform EAU UROONCO.
Dr. Capitanio is active in outpatient and surgical activities, with a particular focus on endoscopic and robotic surgery and his main areas of interest relate to the diagnosis and treatment of kidney cancer, prostate cancer (prostate-specific antigen, tumor markers, prostate puncture biopsy, and robotic radical prostatectomy) and other major urological, andrological and uro-oncological pathologies.
He is the author of more than 370 original scientific articles published in peer-reviewed international journals (Hirsch Index 60). He constantly participates as a speaker and moderator at international industry congresses.
