Biography

Dr. Vincenzo Scattoni is the coordinator of the area of assistance in the Department of Urology at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan under the supervision of Professor Francesco Montorsi.

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 1990 at the University of Milan, he specialized in urology at the same institute in 1995. During his educational career, he passes various internships abroad, in particular, in the departments of urology in Erlangen, Homburg, Saarland, Mainz, Wuppertal (Germany) and New York (USA). In 2001, he received a second specialization in pediatric surgery at the University of Milan.

Dr. Scattoni has performed more than 5,000 interventions in all areas of urology as the first surgeon. In particular, he has extensive experience in all interventions related to prostate pathology (benign and malignant): from laser surgery of prostatic hypertrophy (holmium laser – HOLEP) to robotic surgery (Da Vinci system) for prostate cancer. Performs laparoscopy for malignant neoplasms of the kidneys, as well as for endoscopic treatment of kidney stones and ureters by laser lithotripsy (RIRS).

The main research interest of Dr. Vincenzo Scattoni concerns the diagnosis of prostate cancer and diagnosis by prostate biopsy (systematic, saturated and fusion method). He is currently researching strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of BPH and robotic surgery for prostate cancer.

The total of her scientific contributions amounts to 654 (publications and abstracts). She has written 6 books and 13 book chapters. Her H-index is 42.
Since 2002, she has been an official reviewer for the following scientific journals: Journal of Urology, European Urology, British Journal of Urology International, Lancet, Cancer Detection and Prevention, Urologia Internationalis, Brazilian Journal of Urology, Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases, Medical Science Monitor (International Medical Journal for Experimental and Clinical Research). Since 2004, she has been a member of the board of SIEUN (Italian Society of Urological and Nephrological Ultrasound), becoming its vice president in 2011. Since 2006, she has been a member of the scientific committee of SIURO (Italian Society of Oncological Urology). In January 2016, she became a full board member of ESUI (European Society of Urological Imaging).
