Refractive surgery
What is it?
Refractive surgery procedures have the objective of correcting visual defects such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. In most cases laser refractive surgery is performed using techniques such as photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and femto-laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (femto-LASIK). For greater visual defects or in patients with contraindications to laser surgery, insertion of a lens inside the eye may be indicated (phakic intraocular lenses such as ICL).
When is this procedure indicated?

How is it performed?
