Background of the Project
To reduce infant mortality rate due to congenital heart disease - 3000 chilren with congenital heart disease per year, of which 77% don't have a possibility of being treated locally
Objectives achieved
- N of patients treated: 209
- A new Pediatric Cardiac Center dedicated to children started to be built in 2000 and was inaugurated on 24th July 2011
- 2-4 surgical missions per year (total of 34 missions done)
- Training program for medical and paramedical local personnel, on-site or at at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato
