Lorenzo Piemonti教授是IRCCS圣拉斐尔科学研究医院糖尿病和内分泌代谢疾病科医生,在Emanuele Bosi教授的指导下开展工作。
在IRCCS圣拉斐尔科学研究医院,Piemonti教授也是糖尿病研究所主任和人类胰岛移植项目负责人。但在学术领域,他是米兰圣拉斐尔生命健康大学的内分泌学副教授,也是布鲁塞尔自由大学的客座教授。
1994年,他从米兰大学医学院毕业。2000年,获得内分泌学和代谢紊乱相关疾病专业学位。2004年,他在同一所大学获得显微外科和实验外科专业学位。
Piemonti教授的临床活动涵盖临床内分泌学(甲状腺、肥胖等),重点关注所有临床形式的糖尿病、组织移植和再生医学。
在研究方面,Piemonti教授主要关注糖尿病和胰腺学,重点关注人胰岛移植模型和胰腺癌的生物学。此外,Piemonti教授的研究领域还包括β细胞置换、免疫耐受诱导策略、树突状细胞和干细胞生物学。
