As we grow older, our skin ages due to a combination of internal and external factors such as sun exposure, environmental pollution, and loss of collagen and elasticity.  To preserve its youthfulness, one of the most suitable aesthetic treatments is biorevitalization.

Dr. Sabrina Brambilla, head of the Zucchi Skin Center in Zucchi Wellness Center in Monza, explains the use of this treatment and the benefits it brings.

What biorevitalization is used for

Biorevitalization is a preventive treatment that aims to improve the appearance and health of the skin without changing facial volumes, bringing natural and lasting dermal renewal to the treated area. Biorevitalization goes to take care of the skin and can be performed in both women and men.

As Dr. Brambilla explains, "Treatment can be done:

  • from the age of 20 as a preventive anti-aging action that can increase facial radiance;
  • after the age of 30 to improve the appearance of the skin by reducing wrinkles, fine lines, and smoothing out skin blemishes also due to sun exposure;
  • after the age of 40-45 to help restore substances such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins and collagen that our cells naturally produce in lesser amounts , causing all that sagging skin that is increasingly observed as the years go by."

Thus, the goals of biorevitalization treatment are to:

  • deeply moisturize the skin;
  • improve tissue elasticity;
  • reduce wrinkles;
  • improve the complexion;
  • achieve a more youthful and radiant appearance.

It is an aesthetic treatment that can be used on any type of complexion and can be used on the face, neck and décolletage, abdomen, inner arms, and back of the hands.

How biorevitalization is done

"It is a service performed by an aesthetic physician through micro-injections containing hyaluronic acid in high concentration often combined with vitamins, amino acids, and antioxidants. The injections enter the superficial layer of the dermis by smoothing the skin. Deeper down, however, they promote cell turnover because they go to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Injections can be given in various places, depending on where you want to go in the treatment area,"  the doctor adds.

The procedure takes a maximum of 20 minutes and does not require anesthesia.

Some minor bruising may form following treatment which disappears in a few days. Biorevitalization creates no swelling, requires no preparation by the patient other than avoiding lamps or aesthetic facial treatments (peels, scrubs) in the previous 2-3 days, and allows makeup to be applied from the day after the session.

When it is indicated to do the treatment

"Biorevitalization," the doctor continues, "can be done in any season. I always recommend doing it during:

  • spring because you go to prepare the skin to support the UV rays of summer, which are responsible for skin aging;
  • in preparation for winter where, having filed away the tan, the face appears dull, with more pronounced wrinkles and thinner, drier skin, and you are subjected to agents such as cold and wind that can increase skin dehydration."

How many sessions to do to see results

"We usually do an initial course of treatment with 2-3 sessions about 3 weeks apart, depending on the patient's needs. By the second session, you can already observe brighter, more toned skin and a significant reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment can be repeated with maintenance sessions 1-2 times during the year so as not to lose the effect achieved," concludes the specialist.
