Antonino Zagra
Biography
Since 1980, Dr. Antonino Zagra has been the Head of the Spine Surgery Department I at the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio in Milan. In the early sixties he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Palermo, and in 1968 he specialized in orthopedics and traumatology at the University of Milan.
Throughout his career he has held various prestigious positions. For twenty years he held courses in diseases and surgery of the spine at the School of Specialization in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the University of Palermo. From 2000-2002 he was President of the Italian Society of Spine Surgery (GIS), the editorial group of the journal Il Rachide, which he headed.
He is the author of more than 140 scientific articles on surgery and treatment of spinal diseases, published in national and international journals. He has participated as a speaker and organiser in more than 180 Congresses on spine surgery, both in Italy and abroad. He is the member of the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (SIOT) and of Eurospine, Spine Society of Europe. At the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio, he occasionally conducts refresher courses in spine surgery.
