General Surgery
General Surgery Units of Gruppo San Donato deal with all the main pathologies of surgical relevance of the gastroenteric, hepato-biliopancreatic and of the abdominal wall. 90% of the surgical procedures are performed via minimally invasive techniques through a transoral, laparoscopic, or thoracoscopic approach.
Units use the most advanced surgical techniques, such as damage control surgery for polytrauma patient management, advanced multidisciplinary management of acute and non-acute surgical patient. Moreover, General Surgery Units manage low and medium intensity surgery that are customized according to specific characteristics of each patient (tailored surgery).

General Surgery Units are internationally and nationally recognized reference centers of excellence for laparoscopic treatment of esophageal, colorectal, oesophageal-gastric, and pancreatic diseases. Moreover, General Surgery Unit of Policlinico San Donato Research Hospital is the only center in Italy where magnetic sphincter augmentation (LINX procedure) is performed in selected patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
