Filippo Maria Cauti

Biography

Dr. Filippo Maria Cauti is a cardiologist specializing in arrhythmias at the Cardiac Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, directed by Professor Paolo Della Bella.

During his medical studies, he won a merit-based scholarship for research abroad and collaborated with the Heart Hospital in London (University College of London). He graduated from Sapienza University of Rome in 2009 and completed his specialization there in 2015, focusing on electrophysiology and complex arrhythmias.

Immediately after his specialization, Dr. Cauti worked as an arrhythmia consultant at Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan and later as a senior electrophysiologist at Ospedale Fatebenefratelli Isola Tiberina in Rome, where he was responsible for the "ventricular arrhythmias" program. During this period, he developed, in collaboration with the Thoracic Surgery Unit at Umberto I Hospital, a modified technique for sympathetic cardiac denervation in patients with refractory ventricular tachycardia to ablative therapy.

Dr. Cauti is a PhD candidate in Cardiothoracic Pathophysiology and Imaging at Sapienza University of Rome and collaborates with UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), where he was a visiting fellow for the study of neuromodulation techniques.

He has performed catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia with endocardial and epicardial approaches as the primary operator and is currently studying a new mapping technique based on long-duration potentials (VEDUMap). His interests extend to the treatment of atrial fibrillation and techniques aimed at minimizing ionizing radiation use (zerofluoro) in electrophysiological procedures.

Dr. Cauti is a member of the EHRA (European Heart Rhythm Association) and AIAC (Italian Association of Arrhythmology and Cardiac Stimulation), where he served on the board of directors for the Lazio region from 2018 to 2022. He is a proctor for multiple medical device companies and has been involved in training electrophysiologists and biomedical engineers since 2017.

In terms of research, Dr. Cauti has authored numerous scientific articles published in international journals and regularly participates in national and international congresses. He also serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals.
