Giovanni Bonalumi
Biography
Dr. Giovanni Bonalumi is the Head of the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Institute Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia and a visiting professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pavia.
He graduated from the University of Pavia in 1984. In 1989, he also completed a specialization in vascular surgery, and in 1994, a specialization in general surgery. Over the next ten years, he gained important experience while studying abroad: in France he was engaged in a non-invasive diagnostic laboratory on behalf of the Hospital of St. Joseph in Paris, and in Germany he devoted himself to a deeper study of minimally invasive methods at the June European Surgical Institute in Hamburg. In 2006, he received a Master’s degree in Clinical Tactics Development at the Clinical Governance Group.
He is engaged in vascular surgery and clinical angiology, in particular, surgical and endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysm and nadaortic trunks, as well as malformation syndromes and angiodysplastic syndromes.
Dr. Giovanni Bonalumi, as the first surgeon, performed over 5598 arterial and venous surgical interventions, of which 3150 arterial vascular surgical interventions; among the latter – 700 operations on the aorta (of which 150 are as an emergency medical care), 1382 operations on the supraortic trunks and 490 operations on the peripheral arteries and extra-anatomical interventions.
He is the author and co-author of 60 scientific articles and 4 chapters of monographs, as well as a speaker at 31 congresses in Italy and abroad. In addition, he is a member of prestigious scientific societies such as the Italian Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (SICVE), Italian Vascular Ultrasonic Group (GIUV) and Italian Radiofrequency Group (GISOR), of which he is a co-founder.
