Giulio Melisurgo
Biography
Dr. Giulio Melisurgo is the head of the Department of Solvents I Q. Since 2009 - Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit of Cardiovascular Diseases of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, headed by Professor Alberto Zangrillo.
Dr. Giulio Melisurgo is a consultant cardiologist at Casa di Cura La Madonnina, as well as a consultant sports cardiologist at AC Milan Football Club and the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI). Dr. Melisurgo is also a full member of the Italian Sports Medicine Federation (FMSI).
After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 2005, he specialized in Cardiology in 2009 at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.
From a clinical point of view, Dr. Melisurgo mainly deals with the treatment of cardiogenic shock using advanced mechanical circulatory support systems (IABP, Impella, ECMO) and the treatment of progressive heart failure using ventricular support systems (LVAD). He also conducts cardiological emergency care and outpatient cardiological activities, dealing with the most common heart diseases (arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease, acute and chronic heart diseases, atrial fibrillation and supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias). At Casa di Cura La Madonnina, he is engaged in cardiological rehabilitation of patients who have undergone heart surgery. In addition, he is engaged in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and sports cardiology.
As a researcher, Dr. Melisurgo deals with cardiogenic shock, heart failure and mechanical circulatory support. He is the author and co-author of more than 30 publications in industry scientific journals and book chapters. His Hirsch index is 9. He constantly participates in industry national and international congresses.
