Biography

Dr. Alessandra Marcone is the Head of the Functional Unit of the Department of Cognitive and Movement Neurological Disorders at the Ospedale San Raffaele Clinical Research Institute, led by Dr. Sandro Iannaccone.

After graduating in 1984 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, she completed a specialization in neurology at the same university in 1988.

Dr. Marcone carries out the clinical management of patients with neurodegenerative diseases (dementia, parkinson’s syndrome), especially with a focus on behavioral and neuropsychological aspects. In addition, she is engaged in the rehabilitation of these diseases and other neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury and brain tumors.

In terms of research, Dr. Marcone is an expert in neurodegenerative diseases with a particular focus on neuropsychological and genetic aspects.

In addition, she is one of the founding members of SIN-DEM (Autonomous Association affiliated to the Italian Society of Neurologists to Combat Dementia) and a member of the Scientific Society of Rehabilitation Physicians in Private Hospitals (ARSOP).

Dr. Marcone also teaches as a Visiting Professor at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.

Finally, she is the author and co-author of 80 industry journal publications and book chapters. Her Hirsch index is 26. She regularly participates in national and international industry congresses.
