Biography
Dr. Andrés José Maria Ferreri is an oncologist and Head of the Clinical Research Unit on Lymphomas at the Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, directed by Professor Fabio Ciceri.
He obtained his medical degree in 1985 from the University of Buenos Aires and then specialized in Clinical Oncology in 1989 at the Central Military Hospital of Buenos Aires. After moving to Italy, he earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Parma in 1992, and later specialized in Medical Oncology at the University of Milan in 2005.
Dr. Ferreri has focused his studies in the field of oncology; his scientific expertise includes laboratory, translational, and clinical research developed at the National Cancer Institute of Milan and IRCCS San Raffaele. His studies have successfully identified the causes of tumors and used them as therapeutic targets, particularly in the field of lymphomas associated with infectious agents.
As Head of the Clinical Research Unit and Professor of Oncology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, he has conducted numerous studies on cerebral lymphomas, a highly aggressive tumor of the central nervous system, defining the treatment guidelines applied in many countries. He founded the International Primary CNS Lymphoma Collaborative Group, which is responsible for the most important studies on central nervous system lymphomas.
He is the founder of the International Extranodal Lymphoma Study Group and the Italian Lymphoma Foundation, of which he is President; he is a member of numerous European and international scientific societies and is a lecturer at the European School of Oncology. The author of numerous scientific articles and book chapters, both online and in print, in English, Italian, and Spanish, he has received the "Paul Harris Fellow" recognition from the Rotary International Foundation.
