Enrico Gherlone
Biography
Professor Enrico Felice Gherlone is a Full Professor of Dentistry (SSD MED/28), at Vita-Salute San Raffaele Univeristy of Milan, he has held the position of Rector since 8 November 2018 and Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Vita-Salute University.
Before becoming Rector, at the same University, he was Pro-Rector for Institutional Relations, Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, President of the Master's Degree Course in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics and Director of the School of Specialisation in Oral Surgery.
He is Director of the Department of Dentistry at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, a former Member of the National Planning Commission at the Ministry of Health from 2008 to 2011 and a full Member of the Superior Health Council from 2010 to 2013 where he represented the dentistry area until August 2013.
In the same period, he received the delegation from Minister Fazio as referent for national dentistry, thus representing all Italian dentists in institutional and private settings. Since 2012, he has been a member of the "Technical Group on Dentistry" of the Department of Public Health and Innovation, Ministry of Health, set up with the DD of 24 May 2012 and renewed with the DD of 23 January 2014.
Since 10 April 2020, he has been the Coordinator of the Ministry of Health's Technical Table on "Operational indications for dental activities during phase 2 of the Covid-19 pandemic", correlated to the Central Cts.
He is currently Coordinator of the Ministry of Health's Technical Table on training, research and planning of dental activities, appointed by Decree of the Chief of Staff of the Minister of Health on 5 November 2020.
From January 2015 to December 2018 President of the National College of University Professors of Dental Disciplines.
Since December 2020 President of the Board of Directors of the Association European Cultural Centre Palazzo Arese Borromeo.
Prof. Gherlone is the author of 396 publications of which 252 articles with impact factor, 7 monographic volumes and 7 book chapters. His h-index (Scopus) = 40, h-index (Google Scholar) = 48, 6976 total citations.

The author of 7 monograph volumes, 6 book chapters and 219 scientific articles with impact factor (total Impact Factor is 932, number of citations is 2.444, Hirsch index is 27) in international journals such as the Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Implants, European Journal of Inflammation, European Journal of Histochemistry , Clinical Oral Implants Research, Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, Implant Dentistry and BioMed Research International. He is also the Editor-in-chief of the international Journal of Osseointegration and Scientific Editor of the Surgery and Practice journal.
