Biography

Professor Marco Losa is a neuroendocrinologist at the Neurochirurgia Unit of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, directed by Professor Pietro Mortini, where he is the Head of the Functional Neuroendocrinology Unit.

Professor Losa is also an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the Università degli Studi di Milano in 1981, he specialized in Endocrinology at the Università degli Studi di Modena in 1984. From 1983 to 1987, he worked as a research assistant at the Medical Clinic of the University Hospital of Munich.

In particular, Prof. Losa focuses on pituitary disorders: the Neurochirurgia Unit is a reference center for pituitary diseases, which require a multidisciplinary approach where the neuroendocrinologist supports the neurosurgeon in both the diagnostic and post-surgical phases.

His areas of interest include:

  • pituitary adenomas
  • Rathke's cleft cysts
  • craniopharyngiomas
  • rare pituitary disorders.

Regarding his research activities, the professor has participated as an Investigator in various research studies, including multicenter ones, aimed at improving the understanding of pituitary diseases and their treatment options (surgical, pharmacological, radiotherapy).

He is the author and co-author of numerous publications in national and international scientific journals and book chapters. His H-index is 45. He regularly participates as a speaker at national and international scientific conferences.
