Mastopexy
What is it?
It is a surgical procedure that allows to reposition the mammary gland at the right height, coping with the natural descent of the breast (mammary ptosis).
When is this procedure indicated?
According to the different degrees of ptosis and breast shape, different mastopexy techniques are performed and will be discussed during the visit. It is often used in post-pregnancy breast enlargement.
How is it performed?
It is a surgical procedure that can be performed under general anesthesia and in some cases under local anesthesia with sedation, with a variable duration from about 1 to 2 hours, depending on whether it is isolated or performed in conjunction with breast augmentation. The scarring may be at the marginal border of the upper half of the areola, or all circumferential, or circumferential with vertical extension from the lower margin of the areola to the submammary fold, and in some cases with a scar line at the submammary fold (inverted "T").
Recovery
The surgery can be performed within one day of hospitalization or day surgery. Social life and work activity can be resumed after about 1-2 weeks avoiding physical exertion.
