Alessandra Mailhac
Biography
Dr. Alessandra Mailhac is the Head of the Functional Unit of Hypertensive Heart Disease of the Operative Unit of Cardiology of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele directed by Professor Alberto Margonato.
After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1987, she obtains specialization in Cardiology with honors in 1991 at the same university. Subsequently, from 1992 to 1994, he is a Research Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston (USA), and in the cardiovascular research laboratory of the Cardiology Unit.
Dr. Mailhac has experience in both invasive (left and right-handed catheterization) and non-invasive cardiology in both acute and chronic patients. She is experienced in both temporary and permanent pacer implantation and is ALS certified.
Currently, she carries out clinical and diagnostic activities (transthoracic echocardiography, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, dynamic Holter ECG, and stress tests). Her area of interest involves both primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, she deals with the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, the main risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.
In her research activity, Dr. Alessandra Mailhac has been interested in ischemic heart disease and has participated in multicenter studies on antihypertensive therapy. She is the author and co-author of several publications in specialized scientific journals and book chapters. She consistently participates in national and international conferences in her field and serves as a speaker at continuing education courses for local physicians.
