Antonio Frontera
Biography
Dr. Antonio Frontera is a cardiologist-arrhythmologist in the Department of Arrhythmology and Electrophysiology of the Heart at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, headed by Professor Paolo Della Bella.
After graduating in 2006 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, in 2012 he specialized in cardiology at the same university.
Immediately after receiving his specialization, he moved to England, to the city of Bristol, where he was hired as a researcher in electrophysiology at the Bristol Heart Institute (NHS). For his services, he receives a scholarship from the European Society of Arrhythmologists (EHRA) and completes his studies in cardiac electrophysiology at the prestigious Haut Leveque Hospital in Bordeaux, France, under the supervision of Professor Michel Haïssaguerre. At the same French university, he received a doctorate (Ph.D.).
During these 5 years of study abroad, he performed about 750 catheter ablation operations, paying special attention to the treatment of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias.
Dr. Frontera carries out his daily clinical activities in the Department of Arrhythmology and in the offices of electrophysiology, treating atrial fibrillation, atrial tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia.
As a researcher, the doctor is engaged, in particular, in the analysis of intracavitary signals (EGM) against the background of ventricular tachycardia. Also, thanks to close cooperation with the Department of Mathematics of the Polytechnic University of Milan, under the guidance of Professor Quarteroni, innovative methods of treating complex arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia) are being studied.
To date, Dr. Frontera is the author of more than 130 scientific articles published in international journals. His Hirsch index is 22. He constantly participates in national and international industry congresses.
