Biography
Prof. Francesco Bedogni is Director of the Clinical, Interventional Cardiology and Coronary Intensive Care Units (CICU) at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan, Italy, since July 2015. From 1998 to 2015, he was Director of the Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU), Hemodynamics and Interventional Radiology at Istituto Clinico Sant'Ambrogio, Milan.
Since 2013, he is Adjunct Professor in the School of Specialization in Cardiology at the University of Milan and Cardiac Surgery at the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele.
Prof. Francesco Bedogni graduated from the University of Padova in 1980, and specialized in Cardiology four years later. Then, he continues his training abroad, attending various hemodynamics laboratories in Toulouse and Bordeaux in France, New York, California and Wisconsin in the United States. In 1984, he works as an assistant at the Arnault Tzanck di Saint Laurent du Var in Nice, where he refines his skills in Interventional Cardiology, participating in about 1,200 hemodynamic procedures including numerous coronary angioplasties.
More than 45,600 Hemodynamic procedures are performed in the departments headed by him, including 22,800 Coronary Artery Scans, 16,400 Coronary Angioplasties, 1,500 Transcatheter Aortic Valvular Implants (TAVI), 300 Percutaneous Mitral Repairs (Mitraclip), 4,800 Peripheral Angiographies, 3,600 Peripheral Angioplasties and 1,176 Carotid Angioplasties, 384 Pervious Oval Foramen (POF) and Inter-Atrial Defect (IAD), 108 Aortic Endoprosthesis.
Prof. Francesco Bedogni routinely collaborates with numerous public and private hospitals throughout Italy, dealing with structural aortic and mitral surgery. In 2014, he is Proctor in Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and Minneapolis (U.S.) for Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of the Portico St. Jude Valve. Now he is European proctor for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) and Percutaneous Mitral Repair (Mitraclip) for international companies at the forefront of this field (Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Abbott and Terumo).
He is an author of more than 320 scientific articles and abstracts that achieve important bibliometric results (H-index Scopus 34, H-index Web Science 28, Impact Factor 620, 125 reviews on PubMed, 4468 citations according to Scopus). His works appear in prestigious journals, such as Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, European Heart Journal, American Journal of Cardiology, QJM, Cardiology, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Coronary Artery Disease.
Prof. Francesco Bedogni is Principal Investigator of several studies for CE and FDA approval of new devices in structural interventional cardiology.
As speaker and moderator, he took part on 250 congresses both in Italy and abroad.
