Riccardo Monteverdi
Biography
Dr. Riccardo Monteverdi is a maxillofacial surgeon at the Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant’Ambrogio. He also collaborates with Palazzo della Salute - Wellness Clinic.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pavia and then specialized in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Parma. He trained twice abroad, both times in Paris, at the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild and the Institut Gustave Roussy in Villejuif.
From 2002 to 2015, he was the Visiting Professor at the School of Specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the University of Milan and the University of Rome La Sapienza. He is the author of scientific articles published in such journals as the Rivista Italiana di Chirurgia Maxillo-Facciale, Journal of Cranio Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Journal of Rheumathology and Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is the co-author of two chapters in books on the restoration of an atrophied maxilla by elevating the maxillary sinus. He participates in numerous congresses in Italy and abroad.
In addition, for more than 20 years, he has been engaged in extensive surgical interventions in the oral cavity (reconstruction of the edentulous alveolar ridge with guided bone regeneration (GBR) and bone inserts, complex extractions, cystectomy) and mainly in advanced implantation. Currently, his clinical and research activities are focused on the application of modern technologies in orthognathic surgery and the treatment of severe cases of maxillary atrophy with bone reconstruction and immediate loading zygomatic implants.
There are more than 5,000 personally performed surgical interventions in his surgical practice, including minor and major reconstructive surgery for trauma (94 cases of craniofacial injuries), pre-prosthetic surgery (900 cases of maxillary sinus elevation and 75 cases of LF I osteotomy with autologous bone insert) and orthognathic surgery (more than 1,000 cases of mono- and bimaxillary osteotomy for dysmorphic disorders or OSAS).
