Niodimium Yag laser
What is it?
The Nd:YAG laser is a solid-state laser that uses an yttrium garnet crystal as an emitter. It produces a 1064 nm wavelength beam that is released as long duration pulses.
When is this procedure indicated?
It is needed when rosacea is predominantly telegenctasic, capillaries are dilated, and topical therapies are not feasible.
How is it performed?
The beam is emitted by a handpiece associated with a special skin cooling system that, in addition to having an anesthetic effect, eliminates the risk of side effects. The patient is seated or lying down and the handpiece is positioned on the part to be treated. Laser therapy sessions last 15 minutes.
Recovery
Immediate, provided that sun exposure is avoided for at least one month.
Short-term complications
Redness and moderate swelling appear after the treatment, which resolve in a few days.
