Nicola Boari
Biography
Dr. Nicola Boari heads the Functional Department of Minimally Invasive Spinal Neurosurgery in the Department of Neurosurgery and Gamma Knife of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Pietro Mortini.
In 2001, Dr. Boari graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pavia, and in 2006 received a specialization in neurosurgery at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University of Milan. During his studies, he completed an internship abroad (research scholarship) at Harvey H. Ammerman Microsurgical Laboratory – George Washington University, Washington, USA. He attends numerous master classes on surgical techniques related to skull base surgery and advanced spine surgery in Europe and the USA. In 2011, he received a European diploma in neurosurgery, becoming a member of the European Board of Neurosurgical Societies (FEBNS).
He received the national scientific qualification of a second-level professor in 2017 and the qualification of a first-level professor in 2018.
Clinically, his activities are mainly focused on surgery of brain tumors and the base of the skull, on stereotaxy and gamma knife, as well as on instrumental and minimally invasive spine surgery.
Dr. Boari performed about 1,500 operations as the first surgeon, more than 2,000 operations as the second surgeon and about 1,000 radiosurgical interventions using a gamma knife.
In terms of research, Dr. Boari has focused his interest on skull base surgery and chord biology. He is the author and co-author of about 100 publications in industry scientific journals and book chapters. His Hirsch Index is 14. Constantly takes part in national and international industry congresses.
