Biography
Dr. Elena Costa is the head of the Laboratory of Chemical-Clinical and Microbiological Analysis of the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan. Since 2015, she has been an adjunct professor of the course of General and Applied Hygiene at the University of Milan, and since 2017 - the course of social medicine at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan.
She studied at the University of Milan, where she first took a course in biological sciences, and then specialized in microbiology. Subsequently, she received a specialization in hygiene in the specialized laboratory of public health.
He is a member of the Hospital Infection Control Committee (CIO) and is a member of the Technical Research Group (GAT) of the Lombardy region in the field of prevention and control of hospital-acquired infections and healthcare-related infections. She is also a qualified CEPAS quality assessment specialist for conducting third-party audits of quality management systems in accordance with various ISO models.
She is the author of 2 book chapters on the topics of laboratory medicine and hygiene, 90 posters and reports to Congress and 72 scientific articles published in the Journal of Hospital Infection, Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, Clinic Chemical Acta, Biochemical Medicine, New microbiological, Genetic Testing and Molecular Biomarkers, Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, European Journal of Internal Medicine, European Heart Journal, International Journal of Cardiology, Pediatric Anesthesia, Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
